How To Choose Antivirus Knowledge Base
What antivirus software should I choose? I want to protect against viruses and spyware etc., but what software does the best job? I've heard horror stories of McAfee and have never been a fan of NAV. Can someone advise? Many thanks!

Out of these 3 antivirus programs below, which would you choose? I recently changed from McAfee to Kaspersky (MacAfee is a little bit "heavier" and "slower") but someone told me that having free anti-virus AVG is perfectly alright, then, one software technician recommended NOD 32 which he said was the best among the rest today. If you were to choose, which would you prefer? AVG? Kaspersky? or NOD 32?
I have a couple of choices for Antivirus software that I can install on my computer, which should I choose? Okay, so from what I've read so far, people don't seem to think that Norton AntiVirus or McAfee are very good, but they're two of my options. The other one is Panda software, so which would you reccomend me to use out of those three?

I am currently deciding between Norton 360 and Trend Micro Internet Security Pro. Has anyone used these programs? Which would you choose? Any other recommendations I haven't considered? All suggestions are welcome. I want one that really works, doesn't hog all my memory and won't crash my computer. Thanks! I would like one that also detects and removes spyware and the like. Just to be clear, I don't want a free one that you can download from the internet. I already had AVG, Spysweeper and all those. They did not work nor remove what I caught. I am looking for recommendations from people who have actually used the programs I am wondering about or another good one I did not mention. Thanks! Also, please be specific about which version of a program you are recommending. There are always a few different ones!
What AntiVirus to choose? Well I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security 2008 lately but I am wondering what is the best? Many people say it is not doing what it is spose to do and I agree with them. I DON'T care about the price I just want my computer to have the best protection! Which antivirus is best for my laptop if I want to download music safely? So when I had Kaspersky it wouldn't allow me to download music and now I'm trying to choose a good antivirus that will protect my computer but still let me get music (i use Morpheus if it helps). Some of the programs I'm looking at are AVG, Mozilla Firefox, Zone Alarm, ID Security Suite, and Avast. If you have tried these can you let me know which works best for music downloads..
Which antivirus should I choose? Your choice is Zone Alarm or Trend Micro. I bought Zone Alarm about 8 months ago, and it let a worm through, so I had to wipe and restore my Dell PC. On a friend's advice we added the 2005 version of Trend Micro PC-cillin, which worked fine with the existing Zone Alarm. Yesterday I got and installed an update for Zone Alarm, and it no longer works with Trend Micro. One of them has to go. Which do I choose and why? Thanks. How can i remove Error 4002,517 from Norton Antivirus? I installed Norton Antivirus and once is clicked on AutoProtect option it showed me the error 4002,517 and wont let me choose to autoprotect antivirus software. Please can anyone let me know how to resolve this problem
What antivirus software should I use with this problem? I curently have a problem with my PC. It seems that it has a virus that kees me form shutting my PC down. It keeps restarting even if I choose the shut down option. My current antivirus software is updated and I have tried other softwares but it seems this virus is unknown because it cannot be cured by the latest softwares. My PC is also only 1 month ols so PC hardware is not the issue in this (and I have also checked if it is a hardware problem). My problem is I keep unplugging my PC for it to shut down and might cause damage somehow to my PC or AVR. Does anybody have the same problems? Can you please help me on how to solve this. My antivirus keeps popping up and asking me what to do about the exact same virus? The virus is a trojan horse, its TR/Agent.29184.47, if it matters. But every five or six seconds my antivirus, which is the one with the red umbrella as a symbol, I can't remember the name, it pops up and asks me what it wants me to do about the virus. I choose delete every single time and it always comes back up. It's the exact same virus and the exact same location. What can I do about this?

When antivirus software on computer detects a virus, what action should be taken? My avira antivirus software detected a virus named DR/Zlob.gen it asked me what action to take. the following options were given 1) delete 2) repair 3) quarantine 4) access deny 5) ignore avilla itself selected access deny, and then i click ok. However few seconds later, it then decided to choose quarantine, but i changed it to delete. did i do the right thing? what action would be best?

How to remove the virus in MS Outlook? When I open my MS Outlook a window pops up that says:"A program is trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you should choose "No". But when I click "No", the window doesn't close, but it keeps appearing again and again. Avira AntiVirus!? HELP!? So I'm pretty much computer-retarded. I've recently installed Avira AntiVirus - heard it was good - and I'm confused already. I was scanning my computer, and whenever it detects something, it gives me a small list of actions that I can take. What is the difference between moving it to quarantine and deleting it? If I move it to quarantine, the infected file is still on my computer, so is it still hurting my computer? And if I choose delete, does it actually delete the infected file, or does it just delete the notification I received about the infected file? Which option should I go with? I've been choosing the "move to quarantine" option so far.

Windows Live OneCare ran out- Renew or diff. Antivirus? My windows liveonecare subscription ran out today so I'm av-less. Should I just renew or use different software? I want something that protects against viruses, spyware, adware, trojans, rootkits, just ALL the bad stuff out there. A firewall would be great, but sometimes they're not that good. I've heard Kaspersky is a great solution but it's very expensive. Internet security has everything while it's antivirus has everything but a firewall. Is there a good freeware firewall that works well with Kaspersky, has the highest ratings (works just as well or better than paid for firewalls), and doesn't hurt system resources? Basically, I'm choosing to renew Live OneCare or to buy Kaspersky AV and get a freeware firewall. Should I just renew, or what freeware firewall is as good or better than paid firewalls and easy on resources? When I tried to update my Windows, I receive error message 80004002. Any idea? My windows update used to be automatic. When my Norton antivirus told me that my subscription had already expired, I uninstall it and downloaded free antivirus. However my OS encountered problem during a cold booting and it have to recover from it. I noticed that my windows slowed down and a message told me that several firewall are active. I uninstalled the free antivirus and choose Restore. Since then, I'm always notified of outdated windows defender definations. But when I tried updating it or windows itself, an error message 80004002 is shown. Please help.

Yahoo antivirus causing problems at startup? I keep getting a message that I am missing files from the yahoo antivirus. I tried to delete all yahoo programs, but apparently they are still in my system. Computer only boots in safe mode--well, it only goes to the area where you choose how to boot up, as if I pressed F8 repeatedly, but I didn't. How do I fix this problem? Where can I go in safe mode to delete the rest of the yahoo programs? I know there is a place but can't remember. Are these two issues related? Thanks. AVG Antivirus help? Ok, so I have this online game installed on my computer and today, when I started it, AVG pops up saying that the file is infected, blah, blah, blah. I can't heal the said program, so I just choose Ignore, but it still won't me play the game. I am 100% sure that the game isn't virus-infected whatsoever. Moving it into the Virus Vault doesn't help me either since doing so won't let me play. My question is: is there a way I could make AVG not to stop me from playing this game? I don't wanna have AVG turned off though; I just want it to allow me to play the game. P.S. I'm not very good when it comes to technical stuff like these.
