I've tried all the options except "Use proxies" but it still won't connect. Computer not working right after installing an AntiVirus? I installed PC Tools AntiVirus 3.1 yesterday. As soon as it was finished, my PC restarted itself without my knowledge or consent. This didn't help. It takes 5 times as long to boot up. Then I can't even use any browsers because it says it lost connection. Half of the programs I try to open will not open. The other half take 5 minutes to open. On top of that, I tried 7 different restore points to try to restore my computer to, but each time it says it cannot restore. I uninstall the AntiVirus, and I can finally open my browser. Things open up faster, but no where near as quickly as they used to. I am still having a really slow boot up too. This thing ruined my computer. How do I get it back to normal? Already have AVG. Just wanted to try something new. Most reviews I saw came back positive for this one. Saw none about crashing the whole system. I do prefer Avira though. I think from now on I will stick with them and my Norton. I've been running Avira now for 1 HR 6 MN and it is 37.6% done. After that I did have plans to refrag and all. Anything else I can do?

Internet Explorer crashes after my Norton Antivirus 2007 and Confidential was installed? My IE 7.0 suddenly crashes right away every single time I open it. I can't even check any settings. This only happened immediately after I installed Norton Antivirus and Confidential 2007. I tried Norton's suggestion of disabling Internet Worm Protection and deleteing all blocked programs. I also uninstalled and Reinstalled IE. Windows XP with 768 MB of RAM. I cleaned all temp files as well.

Antivirus for Linux, Installation Issues-please help!? Our class is installing antivirus for Linux, Fedora Core 3 on 2 clients and a server. I can download and install Avast-Home Edition (Free), but when I try to run it, the only way it will work is by scanning ONLY the home directory, standard scan. If I try to scan the entire system and/or do a thorough scan, the system freezes. It will lock up the entire computer and not recognize the keyboard or mouse so the only way to shutdown is to hold the power button. Every time I reboot, Avast makes me re-insert the registration key before allowing me access to the scanner. I have already uninstalled all previous versions/downloads of antivirus as well. Please help! I appreciate the sentiment, but this is for SCHOOL and I must use Linux, and yes, there are many viruses and hackers for Unix/Linux as well so antivirus, firewalls, etc are definitely needed so please don't post Windows spam promotions as an answer...
