Website for antivirus reviews 2008? Which website(s) are reliable for unbiased reviews of antivirus software, spyware, security, etc. for 2008 and not 2005. I feel that some sites are paid to place certain vendors in a particular order. How do we know which software is really better than the others? There is no consistency, each site I visit either has completely different software or rankings. Is there a website that actually has the consumers best interest at heart?

What is the best all around antivirus software for Windows VISTA? All the expert reviews I've seen say that McAfee and Norton are pretty good, but then the user reviews say that neither is very good. Can anyone help me find reviews or comparison of antivirus / antispyware software for Mac OS X? Can anyone help me find information on anti-malware packages for the Macintosh OSX? I am looking for an unbiased article, report or paper that compares tools that will stop bad programs like viruses, spyware, trojans, keyloggers, etc for the Macintosh OS X. It is very important that the review be impartial. For example, any report published by a company that makes anti-spyware / anti-virus software can't be considered impartial. Please post a link to where I can read the full text of the article to be eligible to receive 10 points. Well I was hoping for a printed article, but a webcast by someone as reliable as Chris Pirillo works. The webpage for this webcast can be found directly on Chris's website, along with written text that include a few more details than what appears in the video. (the text is not a word-for-word transcript -- I think the text is a bit easier to understand.) http://chris.pirillo.com/2007/11/20/do-macs-get-viruses-anti-virus-for-os-x/

Any reviews/opinions on Trend Micro Pc-cillin 2007 antivirus software? Mine expires TOMORROW. I have Pc-cillin 2006. I've read horrible things (computer crashes, slowed internet speed, etc.) about the 2007 version. Only a few reviews were positive.
How do I determine the size and type of computer needed for a complex job? I need to obtain a PC that can "comfortably" convert up to 40,000 bitmap images (700 Kb ea.) to their corresponding jpegs. EACH of the bmps is associated with up to 80 seperate measurements (4 parameters - 20 data points each). All of the processed images will be stored locally on this PC for reuse. A seperate program will run these jpgs as a video for review, and it will also retrieve data which corresponds to any image reqested. Background programs are limited to antivirus/screen print utility/network printers. I am currently using an HP - 3.4 GHz processor/1 gig of RAM on a 200 gig hard drive and I am not happy with its performance...up to 2 or more hours to process the images. Is this too large of a job for this size of PC? If so, I need "proof" to support my request for a "larger" PC (how big???) What evidence can I use to convince others that a larger PC is needed?
ok.. which of these antivirus would you prefer...? I am about to buy a new antivirus and I am wanting to know your guys reviews over the following 3 that I am thinking about buying. Bit defender V10 antivirus Norton 2007 antivirus Trend micro 2007 antivirus Keep in mind this is for vista home premium. Ive heard that bit defender bogs down your computer pretty bad.. what do you think.. Thanks!
in antiviruspreview.com bitdefender is the good antivirus rather than norton, avg, kaspery, etc.?which is true this is the website: http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/?ttreng=1&ttrkey=norton+anti+virus? So what is the best use in free edition antivirus?
How can i get rid of this Virus that makes "New folders",everywhere? Hello I guess it came from a floppy disk in my computer. I'm not sure if my computer has any antivirus s/w or not,i think i had a trial version of McAffe anti virus before. This thing makes new folders everywhere and in these new folders there are two folders again which one of them is always named "My ebooks" and another one is another folder named "New folder" again which contains again these two files. when i move my mouse on them i see the description is File version:1.0.0.0 and size 104 KB for all of them.and when i delete them they come immidiately again with reviewing that location.and most other times it gives access denied too. Does anyvbody knows what is this virus?what does it do?and how can i get rid of it? (ps:do u know any good and free antivirus for that to be downloaded?)
How do I find my purpose in life? I am currently working at a job that really isn't that bad, but it's not what I want to for the rest of my life. I have yet to be here a year [next month] and I'm burned out! I reviewed the survey results for job burnout and I have four of the five symptoms for the condition. 4 of 5! I've created a career/life goal list as advised by my manager, but seeing as I am not a list guy, the list I made now resides on the backseat floor of my car. I've tried Googling solutions but that only ended in frustration and running my antivirus program. So, I'm trying my hand at reaching out to the people of the Net for some guidance. Ill thought out? Maybe. Well, I guess that's about it. Thank you for your time and consideration.

I heard about this virus and that is a pain the neck to get rid of it. The only thing it allows me to do is rename or leave. I know that smth is wrong with my computer. How to get rid of this virus??????? I installed antivirus programm not a long time ago, i already had virus in my computer
What Internet security suites for 2007 are the best for window XP home edition? I have spent two days trying to look up different security suites. I have tryed CNET and other sites but they are all full of it. The editors always have there favorit picks (who ever pays them the most), but the user reviews are often less than half of what the editors give. For example: I checked Norton 360 on CNET. The editor gives it a score of 8.0 out of a possible 10. The users give it a 4.2 out of 10 with 174 users voting. I have always used Norton AntiVirus but was never happy with it, and thought now was a good time to change. Please people I could really use some help. By the way I will also be adding my sons computer, as soon as I get the wireless router connected. Thanks for your help.....Scott By the way this is the second time I posted the same question. The first time ( last night) closed for some reson, I don't know what I did wrong. Also I am not looking for free programs ect. Thanks again.....Scott
Antivirus XP 2008? Antivirus XP 2008 almost killed my computer last night, but I followed some reviews and I did a system restore- it worked! However, I just wanna know if I need to follow up with anything else after the "system restore." I didn't use one of the programs... And how can I check to make sure all of it is gone?
Antivirus software? What is the best antivirus software? I had been using Trend Micro, but the 2007 edition has gotten a lot of bad reviews. Macafee, trend micro, or norton?
I have Norton 2007, started using AVG AV+anti-spyware. Should I just un the Norton? I posted a question about AVG AV and antispyware. I have gotten some great advice. I have Norton 2007, should i just use that instead of messing with some fo these freeware's that are lighter(and i thought were better, the freeware) or so i was told. Saw PCworld's reviews on the paid and free antivirus, so i know which was im leaning, but i want to know if maybe there is something i dont know. Im not running Norton right now. I am running AVG only. I was disappointed with Norton when i received a new pc and got slammed with spyware.
Free Antivirus? I want a free antivirus becuase the ones u have to pay are too expensive :S i hope u could help me, and please give me reviews of the ones u use or know so i can be sure that they are good and they work. I have Windows Vista by the way. THX
What are the best anti-virus software for a dial-up connection? I have a computer with Windows XP operating system, it is a dial-up connection. I have always had Norton Anti-virus. I have always downloaded it online directly, never using a cd but now for the Norton 2008 version I could not complete the download, and so when I contacted the company they told me they would send me a new installation cd instead. Now I have been reading a lot of customer reviews regarding the Norton Antivirus 2008 version and it does not sound good at all. I want to change to another product. Please tell me what is the best for a dial-up connection. One that will not slow my computer down like people have been saying about the Norton Anti-Virus?

Can anyone recommend an Anti-Virus program? I'm looking for a good but cheap anti-virus program, I am currently using XP with an old Noton Antivirus and have looked at Norton's most recent package and all the reviews are bad, any suggestions?
Which Antivirus should I use? I want to install free anti virus software. I intend using the free Norton On Demand scan from the Google pack (because it doesn't interfere with other software). I have a problem with the second one though. Should I use AVG, AOL's McAfee or Avira AntiVir Personal Edition? I already have McAfee enterprise edition installed (ver 8.5i). That isn't free, its licensed by my company, but I discovered it has its limitations. I'd like to get some sites with good reviews. Thanks a lot guys.
ANTIVIRUS programs on download.com... please help!? there are many different free virus scan free downloads and reviews on download.com.. are these programs safe and why are they free? is it because its more of a try before u but because u dont get the full program? this AVG anti virus free edition 7.5.484 has had over 35 000 000 downloads does that mean its good coz i have never heard of it but ive heard of the free AD AWARE and MCAFEE ones but this one has more downloads so the people like it better? but why are they free then is they are so good? if**.................................
Which antivirus? I need a recommendation on which antivirus to use. I know what you're going to say, NOD32 or KASPERSKY. I know. BUT. I want an answer based on results, not on what you have read in reviews. Most reviews are rigged anyways. I've used Kaspersky, NOD32 2.7 & 3.0, Norton 2007/2008, BitDefender, AVG 8, Trend Micro (NEVER again). I've tested multiple antivirus products and can't seem to stick with just one. Kaspersky, Nod32 and Norton have seemed to work fine for me over the years. I won't be using Kaspersky for now, so that's out of the question. Now, when I scan a specific file using an online malware scanner (Jotti/VirusTotal), NOD32 always seems to miss it. Every time. And it even missed one obvious one from Limewire that I downloaded on purpose. I love how it's light on resources, but the effectiveness is worrying me. Norton 2008, however, detects anything I throw at it. Help me make my decision please. Any references are okay. Thank you. :-D
Info on AVG AntiVirus Software? I am looking for any information, good or bad, that you can give me on AVG AntiVirus Software. I have done google searches but I can't find many reviews. I would not be going with the free version as it does not have any spyware protection. If anyone can recomend any other VP or let me know which ones *not* to use, that would also be appreciated. I work in a small sign shop. We would need something that could be used on multiple computers (4). My boss is looking for more than free coverage but doesn't want to spend ton of cash on it either. We currently have Norton but he had heard good things about AVG so wanted to look into the option.
Why might I want to dump Norton? I've not had any problems with Norton antivirus and firewall, but lately I’ve been seeing people talking about how it slows your system way down. So I'm wondering what I should replace them with that are just as good. I know about AVG, but is it popular simply because it's free? What firewall should I pair it up with? Is Zone Alarm any good or is its popularity only stemmed from the fact that it's free too. What are some others you've used and recommend? Also if you can't tell me in 10 lines of text you will get a thumbs down. Unless your explaining your experiences with that product. I don't want an answer of a list of 100 products like I've seen that girl "Cutie" do. I want an honest review.
What do you think of Defender Pro 15-in-1 2008? I bought it at Walmart for around $39.95. I read some reviews on the internet that praise it, but others say it contains a virus that will ruin my computer. It is pretty much a rebranded Kaspersky antivirus. It also says on the box that it got the cnet Editor's Choice for October 2006. When you look that up on the cnet site, you find out that it was Kaspersky that got that award, not Defender Pro. Should I take it back or install it on my computer?
What is the best Free AntiVirus? One that is : FREE DOSN'T MAKE MY LAPTOP CRASH WORKS SILENTLY IN THE BACKGROUND HAS GOOD REVIEWS FROM EXPERTS Also i am only 15 so i do a LOT of downloadin and am not on my Laptop that offten, hense i would need one to spot Virus when i download and would not need 24/7 guidence. Thanx and any suggestions are welcome ^_^
which is a better antivirus software? ThreatFire or Avira????Give me the reasons and if can the reviews of them by editors.....
Has anyone any experience with the Windows OneCare Antivirus/System Diagnostic yet? New product on the market, the Windows OneCare. It is a system diagnostic and all in one anti-virus system. I was thinking about purchasing it, but wanted to see if there were any user reviews? Thanks for the help...
Online Armor Review? Avira Confliction? Hi, I downloaded Online Armor recently and I was wondering if it was the most secure (free) firewall I can get or if I should revert to Comodo. Also if you know if OA conflicts with Avira AntiVirus then let me know ^_^. Thanks in advance. SBC
Antivirus Avg? hey is avg really that good i seen alot of good reviews about them but someone said it dont have realtime protection i had it before and it did,did they change somthing?
What IS the best anti virus software-I am willing to pay...? Sick of bad antivirus programmes ie AVG. How do YOU know its the best? Did you see a review or are you in the industry?
Mcafee Total Protection, worth 10 points? I have heared it contains all features u need! I need a review here: 1-Effectiveness of the firewall, antivirus and spyware 2-Stability on windows vista x64 3-Easy of use 4-System resources it take(heavy or medium or light).
Internet security questions? As my free Norton trial that I got with my laptop expires tomorrow, I have a few questions for new stuff. Sadly, I cannot afford to re-up with Norton, so I downloaded a few free items, after of course carefully reading customer reviews and so on. Questions are as follows: 1-- I have antivirus, firewall, and pop-up block. What else do I NEED or do you recommend? 2-- How often should I run spyware removal? 3-- Will my trial Norton automatically uninstall, or do I need to do that? If I need to, can I do it now or should I wait until it expires? Thanks all!
I cannot remove this trojan horse! Please help!? I know I asked this question before, but none of the answers were helpful :(. I tried spybot, spyware doctor, I fully updated Norton AntiVirus and redid the full system scan, but its still there, Norton cant remove it from an unsupported file. It let me review it though, heres the page:http://securityresponse.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2003-040217-2506-99 And here is an image of what Norton shows after it finishes the scan: http://aycu22.webshots.com/image/16781/2005756923116306869_rs.jpg
is Kaspersky the best anti-virus now?? is Kaspersky the best anti-virus now?? yesterday, my NOD32 broke down.....so i just wondering about the internet to find a new antivirus program.. and i find this website....and see that ..hey i can get a free kaspersky online... http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/winantivirus-review.html so i just want to ask is the kaspersky is easy to use and have a protection? 40 bucks at walmart???well....can up to date for how long??? i got it from some website.... and got a free key that can work till 2010
Why all come quickly and say free ones?!!! Really worth 10 points!? When ever I ask about a specific antivirus, all people come quickly and say free ones free ones and specially AVG.....why people like free ones the most?because it's just free?or they really provide superior protection? According to many reviews, AVG can detect 88% of computer viruses. ...and in my openion this is a low rating.
mac antivirus program help? ..................intego review/opinion? my school requires that i have an actual antivirus program in order to use internet. i have macbook pro and plan on using parallels soon. i found that intego offers a dual protection package but i cant seem to find any reviews on it. should i get the antivirus dp or internet securit dp which has antivirus, firewall, antispam, antiphising, antispyware. im leaning on the internet security one but would it slow down my mac performance
Okay... like, what internet security should I get? It's so confusing, for every one there is, there's always someone to say it's crap... so which one is best? I've looked on like loads of review sites and they all say different things... Everyone usually says AVG but that's just antivirus, I want something more complete... At the moment I have norton which is crap, so I don't want to get that again, what would you recommend? Apparently... the best ones are bitdefender, kaspersky, and mcafee... so many to choose from and so many different versions of each one! But what do YOU say? cant everyone just agree on one and tell me, lol jeez

Need advice on good pc spy monitoring software? Ok well i have a home network with a couple of computers and possibly adding a third I am interested in peoples oppinions on what is the best software to use for me to remotely monitor all activity on all computers on the network Must be good, monitor all websites, chat windows and emails sent from the pc or from an online site Would like it to be able to take screenshots, have some form of ftp to upload some spy logs for me to review remotely Must have a complete stealth installation and run totally hidden so that even someone fairly good with computers wouldnt notice it And must be compatible with norton antivirus and not be detected as some form of security threat that wil alert the user to its presence I have a brother inlaw that wil soon be using our computers and i want to keep an eye on who he chats to and sites he visits etc as well as programs he is running and control access to certain things i dont want him doing etc Anyone got any good suggestions?? Just to add it would also be great if it had some built in features that would allow me to connect anytime from anywhere and see in real time what is going on with the pc view or even control it if needed But it must be 100% hidden and stealth so that there is no trace or mention of it ever or he will know he is being watched and will try and remove it and stop it working Thanks in advance I think people are miss understanding my question I do not require anti spyware or stuff that searches and removes spyware threats etc I require software that remotely monitors all computers on a etwork including full pc control from any pc i am on and logs all pc activity and internet use so i cans ee what people are upto on my computers Repeat i am NOT looking for spyware removal programs or anything of that sort
Viruses that Norton is detecting: Backdoor.Ranky, Trojan.SpamThru, Trojan.Vundo? Could someone help me? I have Norton antivirus that is detecting Backdoor.Ranky, Trojan.SpamThru, and Trojan.Vundo. I have installed AVS, FixVundo, Spybot, and Super AntiSpyware. They aren’t detecting anything except Norton and I’ve tried Norton’s recommendations on how to remove them but they don’t work. It won’t fix it by itself it just is telling me to review their recommendations on how to remove it. Could you please help me? And give me a step by step way of removing these? I have Microsoft xp.

Rating virus/Antispyware/Adware programs? I'm trying to protect my computer with the best (free) programs that I can. I have Norton that came with my computers' software bundle, but it's a resource hog and is huge. I've been looking at these for AntiVirus: AVG - I've tried it already, though a lot of people said it's not that great and doesn't pick up a lot of viruses very well). Avast - I have tried this one as well...but just the same as with AVG, a lot of people said it wasn't all that great at picking up various viruses. Trend Micro - I know they have been around for a very long time (I know of them by the years-old name "PC-Cillin" Antivirus). Nod32 - Not sure if this one costs to buy it...haven't looked into it yet, but a lot of people seemed to like it in reviews that I have red. Never heard of it. Bit Defender: Apparently this is a free version of some kind of antivirus/antispyware program by Microsoft. It seemed to get good reviews, though. Computer Associates: Haven't tried them before. People seem rather iffy towards them. For Antispyware, I've been looking at: Spybot Search and Destroy (This seemed to get really good reviews). AdAware 2007 (I've tried this...it's pretty awesome and will definitely be one of the programs I get, either way). Windows Defender: Never tried it, and I'm not sure how well it actually works. Trend Micro HiJackThis 2.02 - Never tried it. Any ideas? SuperAntispyware - This seemed to also get some of the top reviews, mentioned in a lot of places. Firewall: The only thing I've found so far that seems to be 'free and popular' is Zone Alarm Basic/Free Edition. Any ideas on this? I really don't like that dumb windows firewall...I've heard that it's really weak. One remaining question...can I run multiples of each program category on the same computer? Such as...AVG, Avast and BitDefender....and Spyspot Search and Destroy, AdAware2007, and SuperAntispyware... And Zone alarm basic...all on the same computer? Or will they conflict with each other and pick up each other's definition files that show up as a virus or spyware? I'm running on a 1.8GHz processor, 2 Gigs of RAM...and a massive 256MB GeForce card to take care of on-screen graphics. So theoretically hardware-wise, this computer should be fine if the softwares don't conflict with each other.
