antivirus software?
I have symantec software on my computer that I don't use and never will... is it ok to delete it from my computer totally? I can't use symantec on my computer at all really, and I have adware, spybot, and startup mechanic... is there another free type of antivirus I could use so I can delete symantec?

- I wouldn't. Just use it as your last resort if anything ever happens. Its probably barely taking up space anyway if your not using it.
- if you have a different antivirus software installed -- then yes it is totally acceptable that yo uninstall Symantec. but if you don't have anything else-- i strongly recomend to use the Symantec.
- It's OK to Uninstall the anti virus but you must have an alternative anti virus program. I don't like Norton antivirus because it slows down my computer. I reccomend to use Kaspersky anti virus, it's excellent. You can download a 30-day trial from: http://www.kasperskylabs.com As for uninstalling norton, do the following: 1- Open Control Panel from "start" 2- Choose add/remove programs 3- Search for norton and click "remove" 4- Follow the instructions. 5- We're done! Important notice: Don't ever uninstall a program by deleting it directly, this cause many system errors and crashes in the future. Uninstall every program by the same steps that I mentioned before. Hope this helps.
- Your best bet is to download AVG Free anti-virus program and get rid of this monster Norton.... no good... You should also get the Norton removal tool from their web site, because, without it, you will never clean your system of Norton files. Good Luck.
