- AVG!!
- As far as free ones, you cant beat AVG
- AVG is the best free antivirus in my opinion. It helped me get rid of some nasty things that were on this computer
- I personaly use AVG, SPY BOT, LAVA SOFT...No norton..why pay for what you can have for free..I use by router as an extra firewall!
- I think AVG is the best free and that Avast is the best pay.
- i like antivirus but i dont like to buy i get cracked version i used to have nortan from a long time but i find its a slow and useless antivirus when i became a professional right now i use kaspersky i think its the best antivirus which kills ur virus totally any new or old and protect ur computer from getting virus from outside totally secure best for me and i think its the top rated too but for users who dont know much about computers softwares and internet they need to buy this one coz they cant find a cracked version to download free. easily it need experiance otherwise they had a option buy a cracked verstion from any computer shop privately.
- I would suggest you try downloading the programs on this site. http://www.spywareinsider.com/removal.html they really helped me out
- ZoneAlarm... http://filehippo.com/download_zonealarm_free/
- i know of a very good program that stops every virus known to man, and the funny thing is, this program is actually a hidden feature of windows. All u have to do is press start shutdown and shutdown again. When your computer is shutting down and says "saving settings", press windows key + shift + Print Screen key + P. You'll be at a debug screen now, and from here u can customize your options and make windows recognize virus signatures, such as codes that are in standard in every virus. *** make sure u press the key combo when it says "saving settings", and not when it says "shuting down"....if it says shuting down its too late and you've missed your opportunity. Just turn your comp back and try to catch it at the right time.
- I JUST got the tower back from the shop on Thursday. It has AVG. I asked, "Why did you change it?" The tech answered: "Quite simply, its the best AND its free." It updates every time I start the computer. Thanks for asking your Q! I enjoyed answering this one! VTY, Ron Berue Yes, that is my real last name!
- AntiVir and avast are pretty good. But, AVG is clearly the best free anti-virus package. Here's why: 1. It's easy to install and download. It will install even with other commercial AV packages running. That allows you to switch without leaving your self vulnerable. 2. It has a small memory footprint. It is able to protect your system using less the 10 MB or RAM. 3. It updates without any user intervention. I've been running AVG for over a year and not once have I had to intervene in update. 4. It works!!. I've not been infected by a virus even once since I installed AVG (I do also follow some best practices ... see below) If your using a commercial AV package like McAfee or Norton. You are wasting your money and your RAM. To justify their continuing subscription fees they bloat the software with features you DO NOT need. Those features bog your system down without doing much to keep you safer. To keep your computer safe do the following: 1. Use AVG. 2. Use a good AntiSpyware package. Right now, I prefer Windows Defender. It catches spyware other don't. That preference will change from time to time as spyware the antispyware tools evolve. 3. Keep informed about your computer. Use CCleaner, WinPatrol, AutoRuns or similar tools to stay aware of installed and start up programs and clean up temporary Internet file often. 4. Don't download software from unreliable sources. The software at the Free Software Catalog ( http://www.gara.com/free-software/ ) is all safe. You can find AVG and Windows Defender there too. 5. Backup up your data often. There's no better protection then a good backup of your data. You can alway reinstall and configure operating systems and other application software. But you must protect your data!! 6. Be discriminating about the websites you visit. I'll say no more on this subject. If you like to partake in certain ... hmm hmm .. material ... per se .. get DVD player and video club membership !!!! 7. Don't be suckered by "free security scans" from companies you never heard off. Use AVG and Windows Defender and other security software recommended by a variety of sources. You can find most of the at the Free Software Catalog (see above). 8. Use the Firefox browser!! 9. Be wary of "free" music and other media downloads. File sharing networks can be very dangerous. If you are downloading files from these sources, make sure you scan files before using them. 10. Be security conscience. Safe Surfing!!!!
- AVG. I used Nortons for years. It got slower and slower. I made the mistake of using Nortons Systems Works. I had to pay someone to get rid of it .... and I built the computer. I can't believe that something that works so well is free.
