Which antivirus software is the best?

I'll expain what I mean by "best," because it's such a broad word. I'm building a new computer and I need antivirus software that comes with a firewall and doesn't hog system resources (hard disk space isn't a problem). I was thinking of getting Kaspersky, but I'm not sure. I was also considering Norton but I've heard that their antivirus software is slow and doesn't play nice with other antispyware/firewall programs. What do you think? Thanks.

  2. Norton slows down the computer.. it's a resource hog. Many like AVG, but since it is free, its detection ability isn't the best. The best choices would be NOD32 or Kaspersky.
  3. McAfee is not bad. It saves me a lot of time from internet viruses with its live detection. Frequently auto-updates itself too. The only annoying thing is the warnings that keeps on popping out whenever some system settings, registry, etc are being change (sorta like Vista UAP), but it can easily be disable.

  5. McAfee is a great way to protect your computer i've been using it for at least 3 years and nothing has ever got through McAfee sure it has annoying pop-ups when installing software but that can be fixed. Bitdefender though is another worthy of mentioning though.
  6. hi.the "Zone alarm internet security suite" is one of the best but you have to pay for it.If you want something free try a combination of 1."avg" for antivirus 2. "spybot sd" for antispyware and 3. "zone alarm firewall" for firewall.You can find these pograms in "download.com".I hope that i helped you.Good luck.

I suggest you download AVG Anti-Virus, I find it works a lot better than Norton and a lot of other Anti-virues out there and it does not lag the computer as much also best thing about it is that its free.
