Best antivirus software?

I need an up-to-date version of a GOOD antivirus software. I'll download anything, even if it's a free trial... but I need something that really works! Which is the best Antivirus software? AVG version 7.5 (that's the free one offered at most of the sites I've seen) isn't good for me. My computer rejects it. It says it is out of date
