Antivirus Help

Your preferred antivirus software.?

I have recently been researching and testing antivirus software on multiple computers. Surprisingly, I have found one that is way ahead of the pack. Also, I have found a popular antivirus that leaves alot to be desired. I don't want to name them now, but I will once a best answer has been chosen. My question.....which antivirus software do you run? Which do you dislike? Feel free to elaborate. Thanks!! I'm not having a problem. We are researching antivirus software for a review to be posted on a local web site. I found the results to be surprising, will share soon. Thanks again.

  1. NOD32 - Eset, this is the best anti-virus ive ever used or seen and ive been in computing a long time, it use's minimal system resources, yet has very effective heuristic scanning. Worst- Norton! do i need to explain why?!
  2. see the best available free anti virus program is AVG no doubt, but in case you are ready to shell out some money then go for NOD32 its the best, even iam using it!
  3. I run Norton because it is free from my isp. However, I really like avast after some research on the web, and it has everything Norton has for free! So my favourite virus software is Avast, and the one I use is Norton Security online.
  4. I recently shifted to AVAST after trying out most of the available antivirus softwares.. AVAST is a good one it detects viruses that Norton misses all the time! Plus, Avast automatically updates, automatically scans everything and tells you when you get something bad(basically, you never should have to scan your comp for viruses), plus it is free, take up less resources Norton big issue is that its heavy, the amount of resources it uses is really much than it needs. Removing it & installing a lighter program like Avast or AVG acts much like getting a cpu or memory upgrade.
  5. you just need to change ur system battery to get rid of the problem u are having...
  6. I run Antivir, mostly due to its very low resource usage. Other favorites of mine are F-Secure and Bitdefender. I've found all three of these to sport good detection rates. AVG follows behind them closely - I've seen it miss a bit more than them but it still does a pretty good job. As far as dislikes go, my least favorite anti-viruses are Norton and McAfee. First of all, I've seen them fail waaay too many times to even begin to trust them. Second, they hog more resources than is really necessary for any anti-virus. And third but not least, it irks me that they target new/non-technical computer users so much - the people that need a reliable anti-virus the MOST. I wish OEMs would stop letting those companies pay them off to recommend and bundle their junk with new PCs.
  7. Well I also did the same on some computers and according to me Bit Deffender Total security 2008 is the best from all & i have given this name as I have tested myself
  8. Try either AVAST or AVG Anti virus for free , both are good and support registered home users for free with update facility .
